Chris Dave & Daniel Crawford "Cuz of U" ft. Lindsay Thompson, Oswin Benjamin, Spacebunny Jefferson

Back in the day me and my friend Quentin Joseph (also one of my favorite drummers) used to watch videos and talk about how dope the drummer Chris Dave was to us. Being a fan of J Dilla and his sound, my love for drums played in the pocket and not quantized increased. Chris Dave was one of those drummers who played with that same feel, but not using a beat machine. He would do interesting stuff like use the rimshot as hi hats and the snare. Live. Right there in front of you. I kept up with Chris Dave from watching him playing with Robert Glasper in the early 00s. I was always bugging off a live version of "FTB" they both playing so much I ripped the audio from a recording of the live show just so I could listen to it in my ride whenever I wanted too. At that time, I never thought I would actually get to meet Chris let alone work get to work with him.

In summer of 2019, I got invited to DJ Jazzy Jeff's house to lend some production work to a Chasing Goosebumps project he was working on. While I was there, Chris Dave also came through to lend drums. I was blessed with the time and space to connect and record with him at DJ Jazzy Jeff's studio. Definitely was a surreal moment because where I was at, was somewhere I had always dreamt of being. 

After we linked up, I sent him one of the beat ideas I started on Instagram annnnnd.... 

Today, I'm happy and honored to be a part of Chris Dave and my other amazingly talented brotha Daniel Crawford's new album Cuffin Season available now 🙌🏾🙌🏾
