🎥: Trilogybeats & 14KT

On the dawn of a looming worldwide pandemic Athletic Mic League held an epic 4 day retreat at Wes’s creative compound. This was the first time in over 15 years my crew were able to assemble to make music. Members traveled from California, Georgia, and Michigan (their place of origin) to reach the secret location right outside of Richmond, Virginia. No expectations were set for the retreat, therefore no one knew what the outcome would be especially after such a long hiatus. Almost immediately the Lab Techs set up several production stations throughout the compound to produce a continuous stream of non stop heaters, that set the tone for the whole thing.

 

This is one of several sessions that were inspiring moments to me during the AML Richmond Retreat back in March. In this episode, we experimented with different ways to manipulate the sample, and they challenged me to move through different genres of music - Hip-hop to House to Rock with that one song.This was fun because me and Vaughan started this beat from sampling a young lady singing live via a cell phone at an open mic we went to earlier that night.
