Around this time, my crew Athletic Mic League used to have music meetings on Sundays at DJ Haircut's (bka Mayer Hawthorne) apartment. After one of our meetings, I told Drew (Mayer), that we should make a quick beat. I went through some drum sounds on his computer and made the drum loop that you hear in the song. We were still using Adobe Audition at the time so everything was created in a "copy/paste" style when it came to making beats. I grabbed one of the records Drew had sitting next to his turntables and cut in the flute part messing with the fader on the mixer. Drew and I both were vibing with the beat so I left it on Drew's computer so he could put the finishing touches on the record (cuts, 808s, extra sounds, arrangement).

We later played the joint for Ill (Invincible), she loved it. I remember it took her a second to write it. I think it was because she was trying to figure out how to approach the record the best. She killed it. It was like it was made just for her.

One of my favorite cuts to this day. Classic. Shouts to the kings Finale, DJ Haircut, and Elzhi who make an appearance in the video too 🙏🏽
