This was the second night at our week-long AML retreat back in March. Trés had been asking me to play a beat all day that I was working on late the night before. Sometimes when I make what I call a "skeleton beat", I'm hesitatant to play it because I might feel like it's still an unfinished thought.
By the way, a skeleton beat for me is usually a beat idea I create that consists of just drums/rhythm instrument, bass, and a chopped sample melody.
Trés finally got me to play it that night. Vaughan walked by and was like “what’s that?!” This video was the exact moment all this happened. What's even funnier is if you watch Mike (white t-shirt in the back) he says "what's that?!? at the same time Vaughan does.
Song was done that night. Then sent it to Mayer Hawthorne to put the final “doop doops” on it to seal the deal!
Trilogy Beats captured the whole thing perfectly in his filming debut.
This was also my first time video editing.
